TV Season is BACK!!! Yeah!!! Here's my jaded take...

The fall TV season is about to start and I have to say I am excited for a couple season premieres.

I am sorely disappointed at the cancellation of one of the best shows to hit network TV in a long time; "Pushing Daisies". Bad decision, bad, bad choice. Its not often that a show is so quirky, stylized and well written as this one. Some head honcho needs to be fired, they are too old to be making modern TV programing descisions.

Eli Stone was also let go, but that's no surprise considering the fact that for some reason the networks don't like shows that are smart and funny and a little spiritually positive. NO, we only can have depressing dramas that stab at the moral center of our society. Vampires who kill and maim and drink human blood are all ok, but not someone who speaks to a higher being and tries to SAVE peoples lives...

ANYWAY...

My three current favorite shows are returning with what looks like strong season openers.

"Fringe" has Olivia coming back from her visit from the other world and trying to piece the rest of the puzzle together. Ahhhh, how I love the feelings of nostalgia that I get from the original days of the "X-Files" when I watch this show. Bravo JJ, bravo. Reminiscent without ripoff..Perfect combo.

"Castle" is back- Thank goodness! I am glad to see that the network actually made a smart programing choice and kept this one. The witty banter and great story and character development hooked me from the first episode. Oh and a father who actually gets along with his teenage daughter. Wow, revolutionary... As a writer I appreciate all the little things that are written into this show. Someones a Raymond Chandler fan. Just like me.

"Lie to Me"- another well written show, completely different from the two above, it couples a newer take on body language science and gritty cop drama. I love the nuances the show finds in pop culture and modern media to illustrate the point of the micro expressions that base each episode on. I think this is a must see show.

Here's my list of new shows I'm trying out this fall:

Flash Forward
Modern Family
V
The Forgotten
Day One

I will let you know how I like them and if I think they are worth checking out.

Until then...Live long and prosper....
